Beonyx was founded in Quebec in 2023 by Michael Martel and Louis Déry, who recognized a clear gap in off-road mobility. Existing vehicles could not operate reliably across the full range of conditions where real work needed to be done. Michael, an engineer with a deep passion for mountain biking, brought a strong technical foundation and a practical understanding of terrain and performance. He partnered with his longtime friend Louis, whose passion for hiking and the outdoors was matched by extensive experience in finance. Their collaboration was natural and intentional, combining complementary strengths and a real passion to develop from the ground up, a sustainable, Canadian-made all-terrain vehicle to meet demands other machines could not.
In steep, remote, and infrastructure-limited areas, teams are often forced to work around their equipment, at the expense of cost, time, and the environment.
Early prototypes were built and tested directly in real environments, allowing the platform to evolve through hands-on use rather than controlled conditions.
The B1 moved from testing into active use, with deployments in environments like Empire 47 and support in demanding operational contexts, such as rescue operations in Mont-Saine-Anne.
The B1 has been adapted for use across tourism, municipalities, infrastructure, emergency response, and defense, with new applications continuing to emerge.
With increased demand, strategic partnerships, and milestones such as NATO-aligned manufacturing, Beonyx has entered a phase focused on scaling production and expanding into regulate and international markets.

The B1’s early development started with hands-on testing in real terrain across Quebec. Our engineering team worked directly with operators to understand how the vehicle performs under load and across changing conditions over time. This approach shaped the B1’s progression.
Louis Déry brings over twenty years of experience in finance and planning to Beonyx’s operations. With a diploma from the Institut Québécois en Planification Financière (IQPF), he’s guided companies through strategic decision-making and corporate planning. At Beonyx, he oversees day-to-day operations, including team growth, resource allocation, and system implementation, supporting the company’s development and scalability.
As Co-Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer, Michael Martel leads product development and engineering at Beonyx. A graduate of the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC), with a background in mechanics and electrical engineering, he brings a hands-on approach to building and refining the B1 platform. His work focuses on developing systems that perform reliably in demanding environments where conventional vehicles fall short.
Brigadier General (Ret.) Sylvain Bédard brings over 30 years of military and civil service experience, with expertise in defense operations, government systems, and international coordination. He previously led global defense business development at BRP Inc., growing the division from $2.5 million to nearly $80 million, and has advised organizations on procurement strategy and government engagement through SLY Innovations. At Beonyx, he leads business development and strategic partnerships across defense, security, and emergency response sectors.
As Chief Financial Officer, Philippe Gaumond leads Beonyx’s financial strategy, growth planning, and financing. With experience in corporate finance and financial structuring, he supports the company’s transition from development to commercialization. He works closely with the leadership team to secure funding and support the expansion of the B1 platform.
This ensures alignment with strict manufacturing and procurement standards, while supporting consistent quality and secure supply chains across all deployments.
It also enables the B1 to operate in regulated environments, including defense, civil security, and public sector applications, as Beonyx continues to expand across industries and markets.
