Innovation Inspired by a Passion for Exploration

Louis Déry, Co-CEO and COO of Beonyx, has always found solace in nature. From the serene calm of mountain peaks to the quiet hum of rivers cutting through dense forests, his adventures in the great outdoors have shaped his spirit and ambitions. This deep connection with nature has become the driving force behind Beonyx’s mission to make the world’s most beautiful, hard-to-reach places accessible to everyone without harming the landscape.

“My passion for nature is an integral part of my being,” Louis reflects. “I find in the calm of the mountains, the forest, and the rivers a great peace and silence that only Mother Nature possesses. When we are connected with them, the forest, the river, or the mountain become an integral part of us, and we feel fulfilled.”

Exploring landscapes from the Highlands of Scotland to the volcanic craters of Kilimanjaro, Louis has experienced views that few have had the chance to witness. Yet, he acknowledges that many of these breathtaking sights are often reserved for those physically able to navigate demanding terrain.

This realization sparked a vision to develop a vehicle capable of responsibly and sustainably transporting more people to these extraordinary places.

“To be able to walk to places that are only accessible by footpath, sometimes very difficult, is a privilege reserved for certain people in condition, and having the physical ability to travel to these very often challenging and demanding places,” he says. “I am convinced that our B1 will be able, with the greatest respect for Mother Nature, to open the possibility to people who do not have such abilities to discover the inaccessible beauties of the world.”

This vision materialized as the B1, Beonyx’s flagship all-terrain electric shuttle. Unlike traditional gas-powered vehicles, the B1 is a marvel of sustainable engineering. Its advanced electric drivetrain and eight-wheel system deliver exceptional torque and stability and traverse steep and rocky paths effortlessly. For Louis, the B1 represents more than innovation; it symbolizes a new era of exploration.

“With the B1, we will be able to drive people with less physical abilities to different peaks, such as Mount Albert in the Chic-Chocs, and allow them to contemplate the Devil’s Valley and its waterfalls,” Louis explains. “How many magical places will our innovation open to people unable to enjoy them?”

A recent memorable demonstration in Quebec’s Bras du Nord Valley put the B1’s capabilities to the test. With six people aboard, the B1 ascended a steep slope rivaling a four-by-four truck’s climb. But when faced with an even narrower, rugged trail, the B1’s performance astonished the spectators.

“Our potential customers did not believe such a vehicle could exist,” Louis recalls. “To their great surprise, the B1 shuttle crossed the obstacles of the path with extraordinary comfort and stability.”

This blend of passion and innovation doesn’t stop at recreation. Louis envisions the B1 as a vital tool for emergency response, capable of reaching injured individuals in remote areas where time and access are critical.

“I want to make our innovation known for the ‘plus’ it will bring to people in nature, for the lives it can save by quickly accessing the injured in inaccessible places. And this, while respecting our world’s natural heritage,” he says. As Beonyx continues to push boundaries, Louis Déry’s passion for exploration remains at the heart of the company. With every innovation, Beonyx is committed to unlocking new possibilities for adventure, safety, and environmental stewardship—one trail at a time.
